"SMOOTH SAIL"

Choosing headphones can get confusing like ordering a pizza, there are so many flavours but like some particular flavours in pizza headphones have their own flavours, they are Sennheiser,JBL,Sony,Philips............

BoAt is a new player in this game of budget headphones, and they are freshin India some know about and a lot of people don't so we decided that we need to test these headphones in our lab,and we got the Rockerz 600 wireless headphones from the Amazon

PACKAGE

Package is pretty standard at this range ,considering the fact that they use actual box instead of plastic package which is common among this range.

Package includes basics things like the headphones itself with aux cable (since it can be used in wired mode),micro-usb cable for charging, carrying pouch and the instruction manual

DESIGN & COMFORT

The design is great with nice textured look on the headphones giving it a premium look and the open on-ear style gives long time usage without pain to your ears,The buttons are placed on the right side of headphones and are easy to use, however it feels little clunky while pressing it, which show that it's not sturdy,

overall the headphone is very is very light and stays in ears, but that doesn't mean that it's pain free, for some people it might give pain but thanks to it's open design the pain last for only the first few hours of usage

AUDIO QUALITY & CALL CLARITY

Lot of headphones under 2k price tag have been tested in our lab and when this little rocker came we never had high hopes since it was a cheap wireless

headphones, which doesn't mean we have anything against them but the cheaper ones doesn't sound good and here we were surprised by the quality of audio this device can produce

it's absolutely amazing with high audio clarity and smooth sound it gives good bass too without degrading audio clarity, there was only a minor difference in wired and wireless mode, the wireless headphones packs 300mAh battery which gives up to 8 hours of music playback and 30 days of stand by time ,takes two hours to fully juice up.

Call clarity is great,as the we never faced any issues during calls and there is a dedicated button for taking calls/hanging up,which makes it more practical as you won't need to take your phone from pocket every time someone calls

CONCLUSION

BoAt Rockerz 600 is everything you would except from a good headphones at least in this price range,it easily beats the competitors in terms of the audio quality and bass, it has some limitation of its own but the overall audio clarity with great bass and wireless functionality overcomes its limitations and makes
the best headphones under 2k

Nokia X can run Google apps and services if hacked

on

Nokia announced it's Android device, Nokia X less than a week ago. The main objective for the phone is to avoid Google's services and promote Microsoft services such as OneDrive, Skype and Outlook. After just a few days of its revealing, hackers managed to get root access to phone's filesystem. Kashamlaga from xda-developers converted his Nokia developer handset to run Google apps in simple 5 steps., suggesting Nokia has not locked down the device too heavily. Apps like Gmail, Google Now, Google Maps and Hangouts appear to be working.

It is not surprising that the Nokia X is able to be hacked to run Google apps as it is Android. When The Verge reached out for comment from Nokia, they stated that that they are actually happy about it. This is only the beginning progress to a full replacement of the Android OS. We are hoping to see a Cyanogenmod version on this device.

The Nokia X is made to completely replace Google services with Microsoft services, they even have their own app store to avoid using Google Play Store.

on

We've heard celebrities teaming up with tech companies to create an authentic design. Last time when Lenovo teamed up with Ashton Kutcher, they released a poorly designed tablets. A marketing executive told Recode that the company is once again teaming up with Mr. Kutcher to design a special edition line for smartphones. The details for the smartphone is not out yet. They are expected to be released later this year. Kutcher will in fact say something contrary to the smartphone in product design. Chief Marketing Officer David Rodman told Recode that"I know on one level, it sounds corny, but it is real". Also he added "He not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants to solve it".

Microsoft may release a free version of Windows 8.1

on

To increase Windows 8.1s number of users Microsoft may release a free version of Windows 8.1. Reliable sources said to The Verge that the company is experimenting a build of Windows 8.1 with "Bing" which bundles with key Microsoft apps and services. ZDnet reported some Windows 8.1 with Bing details this week.

The Windows 8.1 with Bing is said to be a free or low-cost upgrade fr Windows 7 users. Upgrade offers are focused on increasing the number of Windows 8.1 users. The Bing version of Windows 8.1 might be also offered to PC makers as a part of  cutting the license price to under $250. The sources didn't say how much Microsoft is committed to this plan. It is also an initiative to push and monetize Microsoft's cloud services and app Microsoft see Bing as monetization landmine. The company is also said to consider low-cost or free versions of Windows Phone and seems to be working towards merging Windows RT and Windows Phone as a single platform for ARM-based chip sets.

Bing-powered apps are bundled to Windows 8.1 and the leaked version of the OS does not seem to prove any significant changes. The company is expected to further detail the Windows 8.1 Spring update during its Build developer conference in April. More details about the merging of Windows RT and Windows Phone is also expected to be shared at the Build conference.

Apple updated its management features and locked-down iPads stay locked-down

on

Running a business on an iPad has a huge advantage. You could build apps that work with your systems and a lot stuff that we need not say. It is messy when your employees stop working and start playing with the gadget you provided to run business. Formerly there used to be a profile that restricts it's user unauthorized access. But it's worth has been dropped since some school students figured out a way to pass this by uninstalling the profile that applies the restrictions to the devices.

Yesterday the company introduced a handful of features that is going to help schools and business to manage the iPads of their students or employees. Apple is also introducing "zero-touch" which means who run mobile device management (MDM) server can install this on a new device without even unboxing it after enrolling at deploy.apple.com. This profile can also be made mandatory which prevents the removal of its profile.

Administrators can control email and VPN settings to the kind of passcode they have to use to the apps that are installed, and they could even remote lock or wipe it completely if it is lost and contains sensitive data.

A guide on how to use the features can be found at Apple's Device Enrollment Program (PDF version), the guide also tell what you can and can't do in this program.

Meet Boeing's Black phone, which self-destructs its data if cracked open

on

With the NSA spying on us Boeing releases an entry level smart phone, which is supposed to be released in 2012. The company posted full detail's of it's "Black" phone. The phone is specifically made for people who care about security and defense. The FCC also published the specifications of it's hardware and software, including the self-destruction feature if cracked open.

The Boeing Black is powered by Dual 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A9 CPUs. The spec sheet shows that it
comes with a 4.3" qHD display with a resolution of 540x960 pixels. The phone weighs about 170g and is powered by a Lithium-Ion 1500mAH battery. The phone also supports Dual SIM cards along with LTE, WCDMA and GSM. It sports some internal storage and can be expanded with an external SD card if required. Boeing Black is powered by Android which Boeing says will work as the way you'd expect. The phone measures 13.24mm in thickness, 67.6mm horizontally and  131.9mm vertically.

The whole phone is assembled in the US and can be expanded with its back panel to work with biometric scanners, satellite transceivers, solar chargers and other accessories.

However the most likable feature of this phone is its security measure which destroys the stored data when cracked open. The FCC filing spotted by Quartz sheds some light on how this works.

The Boeing Black phone is manufactured as a sealed device both with epoxy around the casing and with screws, the heads of which are covered with tamper proof covering to identify attempted disassembly. Any attempt to break open the casing of the device would trigger functions that would delete the data and software contained within the device and make the device inoperable.

Its not exactly clear how this would work, if say the battery is completely depleted. The Verge has contacted Boeing on this case.

The announcement date is not set and mentioned even though WSJ says it's coming soon.

Create your own flappy bird game with Code.org

on

With it's death from the AppStore and Google Play Store, it still lives in some people's mind while others get to enjoy flappy bird clones. To celebrate Code.org's first anniversary they turned flappy bird to a lesson where it teaches you the basic elements of creating the game.

The user assembles the code by fitting various pieces of actions on to events. Events are counted as the clicking of your mouse, hitting an obstacle, basically anything that gives an input. Actions such as play sound, end game, score a point are attached to events. It doesn't matter where you put those blocks on the final level because it's your game with your rules. To make it easier I made it to score a point when we hit the ground instead of ending the game.

In an interview with GeekWire the co-founder of Code.org said that the idea was born during an employee happy hour when the group realized that it would be spectacular to change it into a coding session.

78% of iOS devices are now updated to iOS 7 says a new report

on

According to Apple 1% of iOS 7 adoption rate are being stolen from iOS 6 every week. They just updated their iOS adoption figures on their developer's support page. Apple first reported iOS 7 numbers based on App Store usage on the first day of December. The pie graph showed that 74 percent of users were on iOS 7, compared to 22 percent on iOS 6, and 4 percent on earlier versions.

Latest report shows that now its stands at 78 percent - with iOS 6 just 18 percent. The measure was taken from the data measured by the App Store during a 7-day period, ebding December 29, 2013. Obviously its a great news for Apple who made a concerted effort to enure iOS 7 adoption since it's release on September 18, even stipulating that all app submissions must be optimized for iOS 7 by February 1, 2014.

It also shows a massive development against Google whose latest version, Android KitKat 4.4 — is running around 1.1 percent of all devices.

on

A Study report from china's GPC (page translated through Google translate) shows that there has been a boom for the gaming industry since the last 12 months giving an amount of  $13 billion to the gaming industry which shows a 40% increase compared to the last years revenue. Even though growth in market maybe a common thing but it might be surprising that Chinese players tend to spend more time in PC
Chinese game market is worth 83.17 billion Yuan
games than just tapping into mobiles in these modern decade of smartphones.

Most of this year’s revenue, 64.5% or about $8.7 billion, was generated through client-based PC games. Browser games took in a comparatively low $2 billion, while mobile games earned just $1.8 billion. Social games–which many developers depend on to spread the word about their products–earned less than $1 billion. Gamers in China states that they have very hard access to internet gaming in mobiles when compared to that of  PC games, this particularly set a loss of about 80% of the revenue.

Gaming companies are trying to take back their lose by figuring  out mistakes and focusing more on fixing them. Companies like Tencent have released apps like WeChat giving highly anticipated gaming platform. Developers are busy trying cope up with challenges distributing and monetizing mobile games in order to take advantage of China's rapidly growing smartphones penetration.

Even though Chinese developers are contracted by foreign companies like Electronic Arts, Gameloft and Glu, domestic game companies seems to be dominating a bigger revenue-$7.8 billion to be exact, or a 30% increase year over year.
